Dramatic/ Serious Interpretation

What is it?

Dramatic interpretation is the performers interpretation of memorized dramatice material. Actor should be moving and actions should be presented in a serious manor and flow with piece.

Performance Time: no more than 10 min

Duet Acting

What is it?

Duet acting is acting with two people. They perform a piece (cut or short) and perform it memorized infront of judges.

Performance Time: no more than 10 min

Extemporaneous Speech

What is it?

Is a spontaneous, original oral expression of ideas on a given subject about which the speaker has had previous knowledge, preperation, and planning. Usually the general subject is "Current Affairs".

The speaker draws a topic and must then develop their speech based on the topic. Then the speaker is given a half-hour after drawing time to create their speech. They may have a notecard with notes while preforming.

Performance Time: less then 7 min.

Humorous Interpretation

What is it?

Humorous interpretation is the performers interpretation of memorized humorous material. Actor should be moving and actions should be humorous and flow with piece.

Performance Time: no more than 10 min

Improvised Duet Acting (IDA)

What is it?

Duet acting is acting with two people. Thirty minutes from performance time the group goes to a draw room. They draw three people, situations, and places. Then out of the ones drawn they choose two people, one situation, and one place. They prep thirty minutes then perform.

Performance Time: No more than 10 min.

Informative

What is it?

is an informitive speech that provides the listener with a learning experience by instructing or by giving information in an interesting manner. They must be written by the student and must be memorized for performance.

Performance Time: no more than 7 min

Oration

What is it?

Oration is a memorized event in which the performer provides a orginal persuasive speech which must be memorized.

Preformance Time: no more than 10 min

 

Poetry Interpretation

What is it?

Performances must be either a collection of poems or a poem which will fill up the performers time and is their interpretation of the poems. Should not be memorized. Moving during piece is prohibited.

Preformance Time: no more than 7 min

Prose Interpretation

What is it?

Prose consistes of short stories, short novels and any other short material reading in which the performers gives their interpretation of the material. Should not be memorized. Moving during piece is prohibited.

Performance Time: no more than 7 min
